Pro 14 Round 17 [part 2] review by Ciarán Duffy

You can read part 1 here.

Scarlets 10 – 10 Leinster

Leinster remain top of conference B, despite a late Scarlets equalizer.  It was an extremely tight game, and the sides went in level 0 – 0 at the break ,with Scarlets having a try disallowed.

Leinster took the lead in the second half with a try from Ed Byrne, converted by Ross Byrne.  Scarlets would equalize 20 minutes later with a try from Paul Asquith, converted by Dan Jones.  Ross Byrne missed a drop goal, but then scored what looked to be the winning penalty. Scarlets piled on the pressure and forced a turnover with seconds to go.  Opting to go for the posts Dan Jones kicked a pealty, having missed a few earlier in the game.

I see a draw as a decent result.  Scarlets is a difficult place to go, and denying Scarlets the win is as good as a BP.  Leinster could have easily lost the game having given away a few penalties. The biggest down is Seán O’Brien going off injured, hopefully it’s not too serious.
